The article dedicated to Kustendorf Film Festival was published on the site of International Radio Serbia by reporter Tihana Pavicevic on December 18, 2012. The article covers the course of events taking place in the town of Drvengrad on the Morka Gora, Serbia.
Speaking of the Festival, it is necessary to note that this year’s “Kustendorf” is being held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, because this festival represents a big chance for young and unknown authors. It was revealed that 28 films of young authors from 18 countries will compete for the prizes. It should be recalled that there are three ones-Golden, Silver and Bronze Egg.
There is every reason to believe that the Festival's program is expected to be rich and enthralling because it comprises lots of interesting parts such as “Retrospective of the greats” which will be dedicated to one of most significant directors of our days – Zhang Yimou, “New authors”, which will let the audience see debut full feature films of the authors who are conquering the film world by their specific cinematographic expression and the retrospective exhibition “Krzysztof Kieslowski: signs and memory”, dedicated to one of most important Polish directors.
Moreover, the author emphizes that an unavoidable segment of the film and music festival on the Mokra Gora mountain is the “Evergreen” program, which always reminds us of some of the most important film works from the past. This year, it will feature the film “Diving suit and the butterfly” of Julian Schnabel, with the attendance of photography director Janusz Kaminsky, one of the festival guests and member of the jury for the best camera work.
Speaking about movie program, the author names some concrete films which the visitors can see. These are the great discovery of this year’s Venice film festival “She does not want to sleep alone” of young Mexican director Natalie Beristein, “Nonfootball” of Russian maker Constantine Smirnoff, as well as “Simply” of Sonia Karpunina, who was the winner of the “Kustendorf” competition program in 2011.
In conclussion the author assumes that like in previous years the 6th Kustendorf Film Festival will make Drvengrad very special and bring the special atmosphere of high art to this little town.
As for me, I can say for sure that this festival has a great importance not only for Serbia but for the world cinematography as well, because it gives a great chance for those who want to reach success in the world of cinema.
